Wiper switch

An interesting thing happened when I took my FJ in to the dealer for service a few days ago. The service advisor had a note to have me talk to the service manager. The service manager said Toyota had asked them to recover some "original" wiper switches to send back to Toyota for study, and they'd give me a $50 gift card if they could take mine and replace it with a new one. (I think they said "original" was 2007-2010.) I said sure.

Anyone else had this happen? I know I've seen a lot of wiper switch problems mentioned here in the past.

Only "problem" I'm familiar with on the wiper switches is that they don't have a "mist" (one time single wipe) position. LOL

Qualifier: it may be that I've seen a lot because I went looking here after that happened wondering why exactly Toyota would want to look at those switches. If you go looking for a problem you can always find something!

I have an 08, and the wiper switch needs no longer work intermintant, and you need to time it just right and hold your tongue to the left to get the wipers to return to the bottom of the windshield. Good to hear your service dept was doing the right thing.
